Tees Barrage

The Tees Barrage

Opened 22nd April 1995 the Tees Barrage is a road bridge and a barrage designed to control the flow of the River Tees.

It was the largest civil engineering project of its time by a single contractor and the site is now managed by Canal & River Trust. Find out more about them on their website. Canal & River Trust (canalrivertrust.org.uk)

The video outlines some of the facilities the barrage has allowed to prosper since its construction and it is also home to our rescue boat.

The Tees Barrage International White Water Course was used in the 2012 Olympic games and has been used as a filming venue. It is open for canoeing, white water rafting and more. Visit their website for more information. Tees Barrage (tbiwwc.com)
